Expertise, Influence and Resourcefulness
Intelligence is routinely characterized as one’s relative ability to interpret, recall or conceive ideas, and those who do it best are considered experts. We all have numerous experts in our lives who make up various circles of influence whenever we seek knowledge. Early in human history, knowledge could only be stored in our heads, thus increasing the need for, and the importance of, experts. Through technological advances for storage and distribution like the printing press and the Internet, information has become more democratized. On-demand knowledge is but a click away for those who seek it. As we look ahead, given the hyper-availability of knowledge, the new experts will be those who can organize limitless circles of influence into strategies and solutions with impact. Simply put, as knowledge becomes more of a commodity, the most resourceful individuals and organizations in terms of speed and intent will be the most successful.
