Punk Barbarians - “Blast Off” - Sex, Props, Cream … And the Drama In Between. Straight from L-crooked-I (Long Island) comes this 1996 classic produced by my Princeton production crew, Poisoned Ivy Entertainment (1992-2000) - Mark, Sel, Nick, J, Dale and myself. The record was recorded in our Hoboken, NJ music studio at 720 Monroe Street (the old Levolor Blinds factory) well before the Light Rail stop and gentrification, when it was still considered Dirty Jerzey. Thousands of tales to be told about that time, many of which Sel shares in his great book. This video, filmed on the Brooklyn Bridge featuring DJ Red Alert, has a laundry list of cameos, myself not being one of them as I overslept. I remember the first time I heard this song on Hot97 in a Battle of the Beats with some KRS-1 track. We lost, but it was close. The most amazing testament to that period is all of the Poisoned Ivy Entertainment alumni are still doing entrepreneurial ventures to this day. I’m humbled to have worked with such a talented crew of lifelong friends.
