Who remembers this thing at amusement parks? For those who didn’t have a good childhood: This thing would spin around and you’d stick to the walls and hang upside down while some DJ dude blasted music from the center. Pure heaven.This was my favorite…unless I had just recently had a candy apple. The best was when they blasted Metallica.

In Buffalo where I grew up, this ride was called “The Devil’s Hole” and it was at Fantasy Island. It would spin and the centrifugal (centripetal? #physicsfail) force would stick you to the wall as the floor fell beneath your feet. I was terrified to ride on it but once I did, I loved it and would often turn upside down and sideways during the ride, that is, until that one time somebody puked. Projectile vomit in a 45mph spinning ride pretty much means everybody gets a taste of somebody’s lunch bouncing off the floor and walls. Also hilarious was when obese people got on and they would merely fall with the floor to the bottom. That would probably be me on that ride today. Haha.
